Star-shaped (8-point) socket, used on the standard tuning pins of autoharp and hammered dulcimer. There is some variation in pin size, based on when and where an instrument was made, but the differences are slight, and the wrench should be adequate for the task. NOTE: Modern autoharps (built after 2012) are the exception. This wrench is slightly too large for them.
