A nice example of Gibson's foundational A-style oval-hole mandolin. Modest appointments on this A model, with a carved spruce top in the pumpkin finish. Has birch back and sides, and a mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard that has pearl dot inlays. Bound top and soundhole with a rope-pattern single ring rosette. Also has an ebony fixed bridge, Gibson tailpiece and new celluloid tortoise pickguard. No truss rod during this era. Period hardshell case. Made in Kalamazoo, MI.
